1. Ship Registration
By being an open registry, it means that any local or foreign, natural of legal person is entitled to apply to register any type of vessel under the ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION flag provided that the vessel meets the standards imposed by the Registry. The following services are provided by STPIR:

2. Yacht Registration
Yachts for private or commercial use may be registered under the ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION flag in accordance with the ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION Yacht Code. The aforementioned Yacht Code is currently in the process of being established.

3. Crew Certification Services
STPIR does not impose any restriction on the nationality of officers and crew serving on board ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION registered vessels. All crew on board a ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION vessel shall hold an appropriate Certificate of Competency issued under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention).

4. Flag State Inspections
ZAMBIA MARITIME ADMINISTRATION has developed a wide network of flag inspectors to carry out flag state inspections and to assist owners and managers in the unforeseen event of a Port State Control detention. Flag State Inspections are to be carried out by the Marine Surveyor of the Registry or by approved Flag State Inspectors and include verification of statutory documentation and a general examination of the vessel’s structure, machinery and equipment, as well as a more thorough inspection and/ or operational testing of firefighting equipment, lifesaving appliances and safety equipment.
